Synopsis:
Hunter Nichols, a canoeist and cinematographer, spends forty-four days paddling solo from his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama to barrier islands in the Gulf of Mexico. Hunter begins his trip on the Cahaba River, renowned for its beauty and biodiversity. The voyage continues on to the Alabama River, then through the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, and finally enters the Gulf of Mexico. Each of these scenic waterways becomes a character in this inspiring film showcasing some of the last wild places remaining in the South. As the voyage nears the Gulf Coast, powerful storms, alligators, sickness, and pollution threaten to unravel this trip of a lifetime.
