About Cat

Cat Porter was born on a farm in Lexington, Kentucky, but now resides in the rural outskirts of Birmingham, Alabama. She danced with both the Nashville Ballet and the Alabama Ballet before moving on to other aspirations.

Classically trained in piano, Cat recently released her debut album, The Long Haul. A collection of traditional and contemporary electronic instruments, her premiere work evokes various moods through a range of musical styles, including cinematic and ambient. It emulates the journey of life, not just for humans, but for all living creatures.

Cat began working in collaboration with Hunter Nichols in the fall of 2010 and is currently scoring his feature length documentary, River Dreams. As well as producing music, Cat enjoys writing and creating visual artwork through a variety of mediums.

Cat loves to produce music and creates dozens of original songs a year. In addition to scoring her first feature film, she produces music freelance for other clients, like The Nature Conservancy. If you have any music needs, Cat would love to help you out.
